Note: Configuration from this KB can be applied through this Ansible playbook.

Tmux configuration

• configure Tmux to allow switching between panes using vim navigation keys.

  $ cat ~/.tmux.conf
  bind -r -T prefix C-h resize-pane -L
  bind -r -T prefix C-k resize-pane -U
  bind -r -T prefix C-j resize-pane -D
  bind -r -T prefix C-l resize-pane -R
  
  bind h select-pane -L
  bind j select-pane -D
  bind k select-pane -U
  bind l select-pane -R
  

• configure Tmux to hide status bar by default

  $ cat ~/.tmux.conf
  set -g status off
  

Tmux tips

• hide/show status bar (useful on small screens :-))

  # use <CTRL+B> before inputting commands
  
  # hide tmux status bar for current session
  :set status off
  

• show time: CTRL + B then T
